Awards and Goals:

The BCRAC received a Pennsylvania Art Educators “Best Practices in the Arts” Award in 1999 for its Learning Early Network Program.  After 4 years of meeting monthly with Network members, experimental artist residencies, annual conferences and planning, the BCRAC initiated the “Learning Communication Skills Through the Arts” program in collaboration with Bradford-Tioga Head Start.

With the support of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Brooks Eldredge-Martin and Brenda Thomas of the BCRAC traveled to England and met other experts in the growing field of early childhood and the arts.   International models selected for presentation at the November 2004 New Worlds Conference in Leeds, England were Theatre de la Buimbarde and La Baracca (Belgium and Italy), Balabik Dance Company (France) and BCRAC’s Learning Early Network and Communication Project (Pennsylvania, USA).

Ruth Churchill Dower and the BCRAC plan to develop an international website that will link international early arts efforts.   The BCRAC purchased www.earlyarts.net with this goal in mind.
